Jharkhand HC: Arrested Sahebganj DC apologies before court
9/2/2009

Sahebganj Deputy Commisioner K Ravi Kumar was produced before Jharkhand High Court after being arrested in connection with a contempt of court case.

The DC, snubbed by the HC, offered unconditional apology before the bench of Justice D N Patel here.

Yesterday, the single bench of Justice Patel instructed Superintendent of Police, Sahebganj, to arrest the DC after hearing a petition filed by one Rakesh Kumar.

Official sources said the DC was arrested in Sahebganj last night and brought to the state capital today.

Rakesh Kumar, even after his selection as a fourth grade employee was not appointed by the DC.

Mr Kumar then approached the court and filed a writ following which, the then Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court M Karpagyavinayagam on December six, 2007, asked the DC to complete the appointment process of Grade IV employees in the next three months.

He again filed another case of contempt in 2008.

Today, after the DC apologised, the case against him was disposed off.
