The Rajasthan Government is contemplating promulgation of police commissioner system in Jaipur and Jodhpur, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot announced in the state assembly.

Presenting his budget speech in the House, Mr Gehlot said under the new system the police would be delegated more powers in these two cities.

The state government also wanted to set up state Disaster Response Force and raise a Rajasthan State Industrial Security Force (RSISF) battalion.

The state government was considering to open Mahila Thanas in remaining 19 of the 33 districts of the state in a phased manner.
