Dean, Principal, Chairman of Index College summoned again: Madhya Pradesh HC
11/18/2009

The Madhya Pradesh High Court again ordered the dean, chairman and principal of the Indore-based private medical college, Index Medical College, to be present in the court on the next date of hearing.

The court was hearing the petition of a student who was denied entrance in MBBS first year main examination 2009 by the Indore University for his failure to attend classes as per the MCI Norms.

A division bench comprising Justices Deepak Mishra and Ram Kishore Gupta again ordered the chairman and other administrative members of the college to remain present before the court on the next date of hearing.

The petitioner submitted before the court that the college management did not allow him to sit in the examination on the basis of non-attending the 240-day college classes as per the norms of MCI, even when all the other students attended only 180 classes as conducted by the College for MBBS.

The MCI counsel submitted that its team visited the college, but the dean and other staff misbehaved with them and the court order directing them to inspect the number of days the classes of MBBS first year 2008 were held in the college could not be complied to.

The 2009 session was performed, but the College failed to produce the attendance records of that batch which amounted to violation of norms and court orders. Also, the Index College dean and principal were not present before the court yesterday, in compliance with the court orders.

The court directed the chairman, dean, and principal of the College to remain present in the court on the date of next hearing, failing which a non-bailable warrant will be issued against them.
