Chhattisgarh HC cancels appointments of 41 deputy superintendents
11/17/2009

The Chhattisgarh High Court cancelled appointments of 41 deputy superintendents who were selected for the State Police Service in 2005.

Hearing a plea by Ahilya Mishra, Sandeep Agarwal and others, Justice Satish Agnihotri ruled that the appointments has been made according to the State Public Service Commission’s 2005 merit list and new rules.

‘The rules were amended on June 28, 2005,’ submitted petitioners Counsel Prateek Sharma. The male candidates will have to be between 21 and 28 years while the maximum age limit for women will be 38 years.

However, the selection made on August 27, 2005 was on the basis of the 2000 Act wherein the candidates were to be between 20 and 25 years and no concession was made for women.
