Training course for legal practitioners to stop cyber crime : West Bengal IT minister
2/21/2010

West Bengal IT Minister Debesh Das advocated for a training course for the legal practitioners to check cyber crime.

Speaking at a seminar on ‘Cyber Crime: Issues and Challenges’, organised by Think Tank Society, the minister said besides the legal aspects the course should also be enriched with technological know-how.

‘Our endeavour is to organise a special training course, equipped with technological know-how, to help the legal experts to stop cyber crime,’ Dr Das observed.

He said to curb cyber crime, it was also necessary to create a ‘structured awareness campaign.’ Dr Das informed that the state government had already initiated steps to create such awareness campaign, saying a website in this respect had been launched.

Expressing concern over children being victims of cyber crime largely, he said, ‘We have realised that children are the most vulnerable victims of cyber crime and we are chalking out a programme to make them aware of this menace.’ Dr Das also urged police, the media, legal and IT professionals to come forward to extend their ‘wholehearted’ support to prevent cyber crime.
