Delhi HC denies bail to former President of Medical Council of India
6/5/2010
The Delhi High Court dismissed the bail plea of former President of Medical Council of India (MCI) Ketan Desai, arrested by the CBI for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs two crore.
Desai had sought interim bail to meet his ailing mother, saying that his wife was also a doctor who can look after her.
Denying Desai bail, Justice Mukta Gupta said he had many complaints registered against him and investigations into them were on.
The court, however, granted bail to another accused J P Singh.
The court reserved its order on Desai’s plea, which was opposed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Desai and three others were arrested by the CBI on April 23 on bribery charges.
