Gauhati HC defers hearing on Nagaland women reservation quota

20.6.2012 (UNI) Gauhati High Court has fixed June 27 as the final date for hearing on the 33 per cent quota for women in municipalities and town councils.

It was scheduled to be heard yesterday at the Principal Seat of Gauhati High Court at Guwahati.

According to a release issued by the Joint Action Committee on Women Reservation (JACWR) from Guwahati, the case was taken up for hearing in the Gauhati High Court before Justice Amitav Roy and Justice P K Mushahari on Monday and again yesterday.

Top Naga women leaders from different apex tribe women organisations were given security clearance and thronged the courtroom for the second day of the hearing yesterday which had been fixed at the request of the Advocate General of Nagaland as the matter was heard in parts. UNI
