Calcutta HC rejects bail plea of Sushanta Ghosh
9/29/2011
29.9.2011 (UNI) A Calcutta High Court two-judge bench today rejected the bail plea of former state minister Sushanta Ghosh, now in judicial custody for nearly one and a-half month in infamous skeleton case.
The bench, headed by Chief Justice Joynarayan Patel, turned down the bail plea after the prosecution strongly opposed the move.
On July 18, the High Court granted anticipatory bail to Ghosh on an appeal after seven skeletons was dug out from a pit in Benechapara village off his ancentral house in West Midnapore on June 2 this year. It is alleged that Ghosh masterminded the killing of those buried in this pit.
Ghosh was arrested from the Midnapore court compound on August 12 after the district sessions court cancelled his bail as the prosecution produced evidence of Ghosh's involvement in the skeleton case. UNI
