Court to decide on CBI video plea on July 5 in Satyam scam case
7/4/2010
A local court said it will decide on July 5 CBI’s plea to examine via video conference, B Ramalinga Raju, the key accused in the Rs 14,000-crore Satyam scam.
Hyderabad XXI Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate BVLN Chakravarthi also directed Raju’s counsel to file a counter to CBI’s petition seeking a video linkage between the court and Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) here, where Raju was being treated for Hepatitis C.
The court gave this direction after NIMS doctors informed that the former Satyam Chairman was not in a position to appear before it.
The CBI, which suspects that Raju was feigning illness to avoid appearing in court since September last year, wants the video linkage to speed up the trial.
