Calcutta HC stays elections in three colleges

21.2.2012 (UNI) Calcutta High Court today put on hold elections of students unions in three city colleges for nearly three weeks citing disturbances in these institutions.
Justice Tapen Sen stayed the elections of the students unions till March 15 on a petition filed by SFI, the students-wing of the CPI(M) fearing large scale violence on the day of the elections.
Justice Sen while issuing the ruling observed the entire state is facing a turbulent time and the situation was not favourable for holding the elections.
The three colleges were Dinabandhu Andrews College, Prafulla Chandra College and K K Das college. UNI
