SC rejects Jayalalithaa’s appeal seeking to quash Disproportionate Assets case
3/20/2010

The Supreme Court dismissed a petition filed by former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) supremo J Jayalalithaa seeking to quash the criminal procedings pending against her in Bangaluru in a Disproportionate Assets (DA) case.

A bench comprising Justices B Sudershan Reddy and Surendra Singh Nijjar refused to entertain the petition of Ms Jayalalithaa challenging the Karnataka High Court order refusing to quash the DA case proceedings against her.

The case was transferred from Tamil Nadu to Karnataka, when she was the Chief Minister of the State.

Ms Jayalalithaa is facing allegations of acquiring huge assets through corrupt means during her tenure as the State Chief Minister.
