8/17/2012
17.8.2012 (UNI) A special court here has issued a bailable warrant against an ex-police officer in connection with a case of recruitment of about half-a-dozen relatives in Fire Brigade Services about one-and-half decades ago.
Following the order, issued by the Special Court Judge RPS Chouhan yesterday, the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) submitted a supplementary challan against the then Chief Superintendent (Fire Brigades) BS Tongar. The court issued a bailable warrant of Rs. 10,000 to Tongar.
About ten people were made accused of the case while challan was submitted against rest of the people earlier.
According to the prosecution, six posts of home guard constables were sanctioned for recruitment in the Fire Brigade Department in 1997-98. But Tonga allegedly recruited his relatives after violating all norms and no written test was conducted.
The EOW investigated the case and sought permission from the department concerned to register a case against Tonga and submitted challan against him after obtaining permission in the last week of July this year. UNI
