SC dismisses plea against team Anna
5/4/2012

4.5.2012 (UNI) The Supreme Court today dismissed a PIL seeking registration of a criminal case against anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare and his team members for insulting the national flag during their agitation in August last year.

The petition filed by a Tamil Nadu lawyer contended that the tri-colour was misused by the agitators and, therefore, Team Anna being the organiser of the agitation at Ramlila Maidan are liable to be prosecuted for their illegal act.

Anna Hazare, in August last year, had fasted for twelve days to press the government for legislating a strong Jan Lokpal Bill.

The apex court declined to entertain the petition as the judges felt that it is for the administration to decide whether the offense was committed or not. UNI
