Himachal Pradesh government to file contempt petition against Delhi
7/22/2010
The Himachal Pradesh government said it would file a contempt petition against the Delhi government for its failure to implement the Delhi High Court’s interim orders directing Delhi Agriculture Marketing Board and APMC Azadpur Mandi to enforce APMC bye-laws to ensure that commission was charged from buyers instead of sellers.
At present, commission is charged from the sellers (fruit and vegetable growers etc) who come to the APMC Azadpur Mandi to sell their produce.
At a high-level meeting convened by Himachal Horticulture Minister Narender Bragta with top government officials and legal experts at Himachal Bhawan here, Mr Bragta asked the top lawyers to send contempt notices to the Delhi Government, the Chairman of the Delhi Agriculture and Marketing Board and Chairman APMC immediately and file the contempt petition in the Delhi High Court afterwards to ensure implementation of the interim orders of the High Court.
Earlier, Himachal Agriculture Secretary Ram Subhag Singh met with Principal Secretary-cum-Commissioner development of the Delhi Government D M Spolia at the Delhi Secretariat and requested him to pass necessary orders to implement the Delhi High Court interim orders and also requested him to take immediate effective steps before next date of hearing on July 27.
